• Do I need to be good at art?

Art Therapy is not art class. You do not need to be “good at art” to begin. The creative process is not about performance, but a way for you to dive deeper within yourself. In this space, you are invited to become the artist of your own story.

  • Do we make art every session?

Some sessions may involve art-making, while others may look more like talk therapy. We will decide together what feels supportive each time we meet. The sessions will always be catered towards your needs.

  • Do you offer telehealth?

I only offer telehealth to clients located at New York State at the moment.

  • Do you take insurance?

I am a private-pay provider and do not accept insurance. Payment is due prior to service. I can provide superbills on a monthly basis for clients who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your insurance plan. (A superbill is the receipt that you need to submit to your insurance company in order for them to reimburse you for a portion of the services. )

A limited number of sliding-scale appointments may be available based on financial need.

  • How frequent are sessions?

Sessions are typically once a week to ensure best practices and support to meet your goals. If you need more support, twice a weekly sessions can be arranged.

  • What materials do I need for telehealth art therapy?

You do not need special or expensive art materials to begin. Simple materials such as paper, pens, colored pencils, markers, crayons, watercolor, and collage materials can be enough. We can always work with whatever you already have at home. The focus is not on making “good” or “beautiful” art, but on using the creative process as a way to explore, express, and understand your inner experience. As our work progresses, I may suggest additional materials if I feel they could support your therapeutic process. For example, if a clay project seems helpful, I will explain the purpose of the invitation and how it may support your work. You are always free to decide whether or not you would like to purchase or use any suggested materials. We can adapt the process based on what feels accessible, comfortable, and meaningful for you.
